There

South East Tasmania weaves together history, wildlife, culinary delights, and scenic landscapes, offering a diverse and captivating experience for every visitor.

Embark on an enriching journey through the cultural and culinary gems of this beautiful place. Delve into the convict history at the Port Arthur Historic Site, where haunting tales of Australia’s past come to life, or meander along the Convict Trail, tracing the footsteps of those who shaped this region.

Near to Wherewithal Luxury Suites, and overlooking panoramic coastal landscape of Marion Bay, is Van Bone Restaurant. One of Australia’s most exciting dining destinations, Van Bone is a small-scale country restaurant operating with a minimal intervention ethos. Their daily menu is inspired by – and sourced almost exclusively from – their onsite orchard and vegetable garden, featuring edible coastal natives and flowering specimens. Wherewithal offers transfers to and from Van Bone for our guests.

The team at Wherewithal is closely integrated with the Tasmanian wine industry.  For the best southern Tasmanian wine experiences, we recommend our guests visit Bream Creek Winery and Bangor Vineyard Shed, both offering tastings of exceptional cool-climate wines. Further afield, traversing the Coal River Valley Food and Wine Trail is a wonderful way to lose a day exploring local flavours and artisanal creations.

Wild Tasmania is thick with iconic Australian wildlife. Visit Bonorong Wildlife Sanctuary for close encounters with native animals, or observe animals in their natural environment at the Tasmanian Devil Unzoo.

Step back in time at Richmond Historical Village, where cobbled streets and historic buildings tell tales of colonial Australia. If visiting over the weekend, on Sundays guests can experience the rural charm of the Bream Creek Farmer’s Markets, a hub of fresh, seasonal produce (including the celebrated Leap Farm cheeses) and local crafts.
